4 Weeks in USA – What did we spend ?
Im now beginning to wonder if my rather naive budget of $100 day/$3,000 month was totally & utterly unachievable ?!?!
I knew USA was going to be one of the more expensive countries but $6,150 is more than double what Id imagined ! Maybe it will be a 6 month RTW trip instead when the money runs out 😉
Monthly Expenses (Sept 2015 – Oct 2015):

So how did we spend those $6,150?
Accommodation was the big expense at $2,275 and food not far behind at $2,000.
Eating out 3 times a day in USA soon adds up, and don’t even get me started on the whole tipping thing, adding 20% to every bill is a shocker !!! Why don’t restaurants just pay their staff a decent wage and incorporate it into their pricing structure ?!?

So what do our daily expenses look like ?
Our average accommodation cost is $73 but it would actually have been higher if we hadn’t been lucky enough to stay with some lovely friends of friends in New York (Thank you Monica & Louie). We also got a pretty good deal on a suite/apartment in Orlando which helped keep both accommodation & food costs down.

How much have we spent so far in 2 months and on what ?
Our total expenses over 2 months average out at $6, 850 per month. Travel is still our biggest expense because we haven’t averaged out the cost of the airline tickets yet.
