Mom & Son: RTW Monthly Budget – Thailand February 2016

4 weeks in Thailand – How much did we spend ?

Finally our budget is more under control and looking like I’d hoped it would 6 months ago !

Before we embarked on this adventure I picked a ball park figure for our budget having absolutely NO idea if it would be viable or not, I figured $100 day for both of us sounded like a decent amount, not too much not too little.

Turns out $3000 a month was totally non viable for us in the Americas but in Thailand we are MUCH closer to that figure,  $3400 this month 🙂

Monthly Expenses (Sept 2015 – Feb 2016):

Month Expenses Location
Sep-15 $ 7550 UK & Spain
Oct-15 $ 6150 USA
Nov-15 $ 6250 Caribbean & Mexico
Dec-15 $ 4000 Cuba
Jan-16 $ 5600 Cuba & Hong Kong
Feb-16 $ 3400 Thailand

So how did we spend those $3,400 ?

Total expenses for February 2016 =  $3,400

Details % Amount
Accommodation 45% $ 1500
Food 23% $ 800
Travel 13% $ 450
Entertainment 14% $ 480
Misc 5% $ 180

How do our daily expenses in Thailand compare to our daily expenses in other countries ?

Basically everything is cheaper in Thailand than the Americas !

Although our accommodation costs have gone down drastically the quality of the hotels actually improved. Most places were 3/4* and all had a pool or a beach. We always had aircon even in the wooden beach bungalows.

Food in Thailand is absolutely fantastic, you can get an amazing meal from a street stall for $1 so we mixed it up with restaurants & street food.

Average Daily Expenses – February 2016

Daily Average Amount
Total $ 118
Accommodation $ 52
Food $ 28

How much have we spent so far in 6 months and on what ?

This is the scary part …

Total Expenses (Sept 2015 – Feb 2016)

Travel $ 9 575.00 29%
