ZZ Ninja Kid: MalaMar WakePark – Barcelona

ZZ really enjoyed learning to wakeboard in Greece so we “googled” somewhere in Barcelona where we could give it another go. We found a cool looking place called MalaMar WakePark in Montgat, about 10 mins drive up the Maresme Coast from Barcelona, or 20 mins on the train. We put it on the bucket list of things to do before we left Barcelona on our RTW trip.

Last week we went to visit the new school that ZZ would be attending this semester if we were staying in Barcelona, he wanted to see where all his friends would be studying this year. Its a fantastic building right on the beach in Montgat, its a brand new, purpose built school from Kindergarten to International Baccalaureate. If all goes according to plan it should be open by January 2016.

When we came out of the school visit we realised MalaMar Wake Park was right next door so we popped in to check it out. ZZ fell in love with it immediately !

He didn’t have his swim shorts but he didn’t care, he whipped off his clothes, put on a lift vest & helmet and wake boarded in his underwear 😉

MalaMar WakePark is a manmade “lake” on the beach with 2 cable lines. You can book a 15 min session and do your own thing or have an instructor give you a class. 15€ for kids, 20€ adults.

15 mins may not sound much but I assure you it MORE than enough, your arms & legs will be crying out for a rest and will probably ache for days !

MalaMar also has a very nice bar & restaurant overlooking the beach, we stayed for a lunch of gazpacho, goats cheese salad & “broken eggs” with potatoes & chorizo sausage. 15€ each.
